In 2006, Parrish moved into local politics, serving as a Mississauga City Councillor until 2010. After a brief break from politics, she returned in 2014, becoming the City Councillor for Ward 5. As a result of her recent political activities, she will be stepping down to run for Mayor of Mississauga on March 15, 2024, and will win the by-election to become Mayor-Elect.
